Youth & Education

The Youth & Education committee is committed to proved assistance and guidance to our area youth.  Over the years we have supported education programs that teach children about the environment, the benefits of a good education and the danger of drugs.  We support the area school athletic programs, through recognition awards and helping with the cost of equipment.

We have sponsored a Little League team for many years.  Donated time and money toward new dugouts, uniforms and new lighting for the fields.  We donate to Pop Warner Football, Magic Fast Pitch Softball, and the Milford Boys & Girls Club, recently donating $25,000 toward the building of a new building.

We encourage our youth to obtain a good education through our Academic Achievement and Scholarship programs. The Academic Achievement program awards students, that graduate with a 4.0 GPA or higher, a plaque engraved with their name and the graduating year.  Also, their name is added to the Academic Hall of Fame wall plaque that is displayed in the Milford High School main hallway.

Staring with the graduating class of 2006, we increase out Scholarship awards form $7,500 to $13,500.  Any senior who lives in the Milford school district, and is interested in pursuing a career that provides community services, is eligible to apply. This years we will award two $1000 one-year, and a $1000 four-year renewable Leo and a $1000 four-year renewable Jim Willis.  Jim was a Milford Lions who lost a battle with cancer at the age of 34.   His parents, Spence Willis a long time Milford Lion, and Stella, donated money in Lion Jim's name to provide a $1000 yearly scholarship, in his memory.

Applications are available at the Milford High School Guidance office.  The Milford Lions club must receive the application by April 15th for consideration.
